Injuries And Transations

Hello sports fans.

I've got injury headlines in the NHL, NBA, and the NFL.

Also, there's been quite a bit of transactions happening in MLB.

I'll start with the Three Stars Of The Week in the NHL.

NHL

The Three Stars Of The Week:

1. Elias Petterson - Vancouver Canucks,

2. Jakub Vana - Washington Capitals,

3.Mike Smith - Edmonton Oilers.

The Montreal Canadiens have placed Jesperi Kotkamiemi on injured reserve, (IR.), with a groin injury and recalled Ryan Poehling.

Ottawa Senator's Logan Brown is week-to week with an upper-body injury.

Meanwhile, Scott Sabourin suffered a fractured nose.

Pittsburgh Penguin's Patric Hornqvist was placed on IR. with a lower-body injury.

Calgary Flame's Milan Lucic was suspended two games for roughing Columbus Blue Jacket's Kole Sherwood on Saturday.

NBA

Toronto Raptor's Patrick McCaw is out indefinitely with a knee injury.

Golden State Warrior's Draymond Green is out the next few games with a torn ligament in his left index finger.

Detroit Piston's Reggie Jackson is out approximately four weeks with a back injury.

NFL

Philadelphia Eagle's DeSean Jackson is undergoing surgery to repair a core muscle injury tomorrow and is probably out for the rest of the season.

Miami Dolphin's rookie, Preston Williams, is out for the rest of the season with a knee injury.

The Seattle Seahawks have reportedly claimed Josh Gordon off waivers.

MLB

The Chicago Cubs have exercised a $16.5 million option for next season for Anthony Rizzo.

The Cubs have also exercised their $11.5 million option for 2020 on Jose Quintana.

The Cubs, however, declined options for Brandon Morrow, Tony Barnette, and Keidall Graveman.

The Philadelphia Phillies have exercised a $20 million player option on Jake Arrieta.

The Toronto Blue Jays have acquired Chase Anderson from the Milwaukee Brewers for Double-A first baseman, Chad Spanberger.

The New York Yankees have signed Aroldis Chapman to a three-year, $48 million contract.

Finally, the Kansas City Royals have declined Alex Gordon's $23 million option for 2020.
