Trade Deadline Day In MLB

Quite a bit to get to today.

You see, it is Trade Deadline Day in Major League Baseball.
.
Teams had until 4 p.m to trade away their players.

I also got news from the NHL, NFL, And NBA.

First, on to baseball

MLB

There was a blockbuster trade last night involving the Cleveland Indians, Cincinnati Reds and the San Diego Padres.

The Indians traded their best pitcher, Trevor Bauer to the Reds for Yasil Puig.

Cleveland also traded Carlos Carrasco, Dan Otero to the Padres for Logan Allen and Framil Reyes.

Staying with the Reds, the team traded Tanner Roark to the Oakland Athletics.

The Toronto Blue Jays continue to be busy.

The Jays traded pitcher, Daniel Hudson to the Washington Nationals for Kyle Johnston.

Toronto's Dalton Pompey has cleared waivers and was sent to Triple-A Buffalo.

The Jays also have placed Ryan Borucki back on the 10-day injured list with elbow inflammation.

The Philadelphia Phillies have acquired Corey Dickerson from the Pittsburgh Pirates for a player named and $250,000 in international money.

NFL

Hall Of Famer, Nick Buoniconti

Some sad news to share.

Hall Of Famer, Nick Buoniconti, has passed away at 78 years old.

The Washington Redskins have signed Donald Penn.

The New Orleans Saints have signed Michael Thomas to a five-year, $100 million contract.

The Tennessee Titans have waived Joe Parker.

The Titans also added Tanner McEvoy and Papi White to their roster.

NHL

Chris Kunitz has retired after 15 seasons in the NHL.

The Colorado Avalanche have re-signed Samuel Girard to a seven-year contract extension.

The New Jersey Devils have re-signed Will Butcher to a three-year, $11.2 million contract extension.

NBA

The Portland Trail Blazers have signed C.J. McCollum to a three-year contract extension.

Stroman's Not Too Happy Being Traded To The Mets

I was away for a few days.

I got quite of few news items to get to, especially in the National Hockey League.

First, I have to start with Major League Baseball because there was a big trade on the weekend.

MLB

As you probably already know, the Toronto Blue Jays have traded Marcus Stroman to the New York Mets for Simeon Woods Richardson and Anthony Kay.

Word has it that Stroman wasn't too pleased with the trade.  Apparently, he wanted to go to the New York Yankees.

Too bad Marcus.  You don't always get what you want.

The Blue Jays made two more trades on the weekend.

Toronto traded Eric Sogard to the Tampa Bay Rays for two players named later.

The Blue Jays also traded David Phelps to Chicago Cubs for pitching prospect, Thomas Hatch.

NHL

The Tampa Bay Lightning have traded Ryan Callahan to the Ottawa Senators in exchange for Mike Condon.

The Lightning have also re-signed goalie, Andrei Vasilevskiy to a eight-year, $76 million contract extension.

With that price, Vasilevskiy better stop more pucks next year.

The Calgary Flames have re-signed David Rittich to a two-year, $5.5 million contract extension.

The Minnesota Wild have fired their general manager, Paul Fenton, after a year with the team.

The New Jersey Devils have acquired Nikita Gusev from the Vegas Golden Knight's for a 2020 third-round draft pick and a 2021 second-round pick.

The New York Rangers have re-signed Pavel Buchnevich to a $6.5 million contract extension.

The Detroit Red Wings have re-signed Dominic Turgeon to a one-year contract.

The Pittsburgh Penguins have acquired John Marino from the Edmonton Oilers for a conditional draft pick.

The Buffalo Sabres have signed Evan Rodrigues to a one-year, $2 million contract.

The St. Louis Blues have acquired Andreas Borgman from the Toronto Maple Leafs for Jordan Schmaltz.

NFL

Finally, the Detroit Lions have signed Fredrick Jones and released Brandon Reilly,

Toronto Gets Clarkson Back And Sign More Free Agents

There's quite a bit of news today, especially, in the NHL.

Also, we got some items from the NFL and NBA.

NHL

The Toronto Maple Leafs have been busy within the past 48 hours.

The Leafs have acquired David Clarkson from the Vegas Golden Knights for Garrett Sparks.

Toronto have signed Nick Shore and Kevin Gravel to a one-year, $700,000 contracts.

The Leafs also have signed Garrett Wilson to a one-year, $725,000 contract and Kenny Agostino to a two-year contract.

The St. Louis Blues have hired Marc Savard as their assistant coach.

The Calgary Flames have signed Sam Bennett to a two-year, $5.1 million contract extension.

The Nashville Predators have signed Colton Sissons to a seven-year, $20 million contract extension.

Finally, with the NHL, the Pittsburgh Penguins have signed Zack Aston-Reese to a two-year, $2 million contract extension.

NFL

The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed coach, Mike Tomlin, to a one-year contract.

The Dallas Cowboys have released Allen Hurns.

The Carolina Panthers have signed Brian Burns to a four-year contract.

NBA

The Toronto Raptors have signed Cameron Payne.  Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Finally for today, the Dallas Mavericks have signed Boban Marjanovic.
